2015 Goals & Resoultions

Overall goals……..
Marriage: to continue to invest time and energy to strengthen and nurture our marriage and make it one of the greatest priorities

Mothering: to continue to invest in our children with the goal to strengthen and nuture our relationship with each child, enabling them with the character and skills they need to be awesome young adults

Homeschooling:  to continue to keep it an active and integrated part of our daily lives, not only with the curriculum but outside of the curriculum

Myself: to make my health a priority and to invest in my personal growth as a Christian, business owner, wife and mother . . . .explore more areas of interest, such as writing, speaking, holistic living, and self-sufficiency homemaking


Family Movie Night:  We currently do movie night, approx. 3 times per month.  I would like to do this at least one time per week, most weeks on Sunday night.  The kids will rotate, with who will choose the movie each week.  In order to keep all connected to the activity and bonding….no electronics allowed.
Family Game Night:  The game night will be every Wednesday night.  The kids will rotate, with who will choose the game each week.  In order to keep all connected to the activity and bonding….no electronics allowed.

Mom & Girls Tea Time:  The girls and I are going to have tea every Friday afternoon, while we watch a Little House on the Prairie Show.  This will give us a chance to encourage the attachment and bonding process.

Mom & Boys Date:  Once a month, each of the boys and I will go on a date to a restaurant or activity of their choice.  As they enter young adulthood, I want to give them a chance to talk about anything and explore their ideas of what life holds.
Dad & Teens Outings:  Explore a car museum, waterpark, and themepark for the day, with no littles or mom…..since I do not enjoy these activitiesJ  I know, they  enjoy them, so it is a perfect time for father/child bonding.

Date Time:  Once a month, hubby and I will go on a date. Whether it is a walk in the park, dinner at a restaurant, or picnic in the backyard…..I want to have time with just us, at least once per month.    A wish…….weekend away (with fewest kiddos, as possible) for our 20th anniversary!

Family Travel:  2015 will be a year of day trips and road travels….time to be together, as a family, enjoying what we all love.  Vacation plans for this year will include:  Week in Florida with visit to Epcot, Camping trip in a state west of TN, Camping trip in a state north of TN, Beach house weekend on Gulf Coast, and Weekend cabin vacation in Pigeon Forge. 
Once a month, we will take at least one day trip, including but not limited to a day at a U-Pick Orchard, Adventure Science Museum, Cheekwood Botanical Garden, TN historical sites, Aquarium, Zoo, and new restaurants.

Homeschool Celebrations:  12 Country Around the World, 4 Christmas Around the World Celebrations, and 4 Classic Literature Celebrations;  They will include read alouds, movies, movies, games, field trips, and meals.  We will also participate in the Global Table Adventure’s A Year of Global Celebrations.

Meal Time:  Eat healthier by buying more organic products than we currently do, as well as increase our "from scratch meals";  Reduce dining out to twice per month;  Get back to the Menu Plan Mondays, which gave me accountability to have my weeks planned each Sunday;  Freezer cook 10 meals in a once a month cooking day with the kids.

Declutter:  Each month go through two rooms in the house, purge and organize it completely.  The items that can be sold will be, rest to be donated to Goodwill.

Organization:  Update our home management binder;  Keep up with Weekly Family Postings:  Menu Plan, Shopping List, Kid & Family Activities, Appointments, and Goals

Live healthier: We are approx. 80% organic Health & Beauty and cleaning products. Our goal for 2015 is to get to 100% for HBA and cleaning products.

Chickens:  Make their coop bigger;  Expand our flock by 3 more chickens and 6 ducks.  Look into selling extra eggs at farmers market

Garden:  Start a garden with 10 crops;  Start compost bin


Church:  Find a church home, and get involved in the church life

Bible Reading:  Start the Bible Study, She Reads the Truth;  My goal is one study per month

Charitable Acts:  More random acts of kindness, charitiable giving of money and time, and possible a missions trip


Holistic Living:  Learn more about herbs and essential oils, implement them into our daily lives

Reading:  Great source of distressing and relaxation for me….goal is to read through the 2015 Book Challenge.

Exercise Class:  Find class, that works for me!

Blog:  Too many thoughts and ideas in my head….use my blog and pinterest to organize and plan my thoughts.

Relaxation:  Learn to relax and distress…….areas to explore puzzles, cross stitch, walks, mediatation, yoga, find a book club;  Organize and scrapbook all photos, one box at a time

Self-improving Challenges:  Participate in the following challenges, to open our ideas to healthier and happier lifestyles…..2015 Book Challenge, 52 Week Money Challenge


Debt:  Pay off RV;  continue to pay off in full, all other credit cards each month.  Continue to pay extra money monthly on principal towards our home and auto loans 

Couponing:  Get back into couponing and stockpiling  This year I want to coupon from January to November, then rest and relax in December by utilizing the stock pile.

Financial Planning:  Open Money Market, Condense Bank Accounts, Open Savings Accounts for kids, Transfer our 401K, Invest more into our 401K this year, 52 Week Money Challenge, Review insurance policies, and Prepare our Will

Monday - Pepper & Onion Steak w/ Rice, Mixed Veggies, Peaches
Tuesday - Three Kings Dinner Celebration
Wednesday - Chili, Grilled Cheese, Bananas w/ Chocolate
Thursday -  Meatloaf w/ Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Raspberry Applesauce, Rolls
Friday - Grilled Pineapple Chicken, Black Beans, Rice
Saturday - Baked Spaghetti, Green Beans, Mandarin Oranges

Wow...2 years have gone by!

It has been nearly 2 years since I have been actively much has happened in our lives.  In the coming weeks, I will begin to share the many blessings and heartaches, that we have endured.
  2. Reduce stress by finding "something" to help me eliminate stress naturally, such as a new hobby, yoga, etc.
  3. Take better care of ME! Allow myself to have downtime, even when I "feel" like I can't . .. . remind myself it is OK to turn off technology and just live in the moment sometimes!
  4. Better time management . . .I need to take a step back and focus better.
  5. Allow myself to enjoy more down-time with my family . . .more playtime, more conversations, more un-plugging and turning off technology.
  6. Lose 20 more pounds.
  7. Stop the daily drinking of McD's cokes and sweet tea, aim for a goal of 3 or less per week. Drink more water!!!
  8. Start walking . ..REALLY!!
  9. Enhance the blog, possibly into a mompreneur site.
  10. Write an e-book.
  11. Read at least 6 books for "fun".
  1. Introduce children to the world around them. We will prepare and enjoy 52 different cultural meals, each from a different country this year, when possible we will listen to the music &/or watch a movie on the chosen country.
  2. Enhance our relationships with our kids. We will have regular mommy/daddy dates with our children, as well as a weekly family night with movies or games.
  3. Incorporate more field trips and outings into our lives, by aiming for 2 field trips per month and one family weekend outing each month.
  4. Eliminate the last of the "clutter" in our home, i.e. clean out storage room, "never to be worn again" clothes in master closet, and boxes in office.
  5. Get back to a structured routine, particularly on the weekdays.
  6. Eat healthier by buying more organic products than we currently do, as well as increase our "from scratch meals". Reduce dining out to once per week or less.
  7. Menu Planning by getting back to the Menu Plan Mondays, which gave me accountability to have my weeks planned each Sunday.
  8. Freezer cook 14 meals in a once a month cooking day with the kids.
  9. Live healthier: In 2010, we switched to 80% organic Health & Beauty products and 50% cleaning products. Our goal for 2013 is to get to nearly 100% for HBA and cleaning products.
  10. Take care of our photos by making at least 6 scrapbooks and making photo albums with the rest.
  11. Freshen up the home's decor on a dime . .. making or recycling at least one item per room.
  1. Increase savings to 6 month's salary, pay off last auto loan, and eliminate last credit card remaining
  2. Stick to a budget and get back to a normal routine of couponing and stockpiling.

From Chaos to Calm: A New Year’s Resolution

A Virtuous Woman is offering a 15 week study based on Proverbs 31. If you have been struggling with your home, your marriage, your children, or just life in general this might be the answer you have been waiting for! Together we will spend 15 weeks working toward a goal for:

  • peace in the heart
  • peace in the home
  • peace with our husbands
